देश में पहली मई से 18 वर्ष से ऊपर के सभी लोगों को एक मई से कोविड टीके लगाए जाएंगे। केन्द्र सरकार ने कोविड टीकाकरण की नीति को अधिक उदार बनाने और तीसरे चरण की घोषणा की है। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में बैठक में यह निर्णय किया गया। इस चरण में पहले की तरह सरकारी टीकाकरण केंद्रों में स्वास्थ्य कार्यकर्ताओं, अग्रिम पंक्ति के कार्यकर्ताओं और 45 वर्ष से अधिक उम्र के सभी लोगों का टीकाकरण जारी रहेगा।
तीसरे चरण में वैक्सीन निर्माता प्रत्येक माह 50% टीकों की आपूर्ति केन्द सरकार को करेंगे और बाकी 50% राज्यों के साथ-साथ खुले बाजार में आपूर्ति के लिए स्वतंत्र होंगे। कंपनी राज्य सरकारों और खुले बाजार में उपलब्ध कराने के लिए वैक्सीन की कीमत की घोषणा पारदर्शी ढंग से पहले ही करेगी।
बैठक में प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने कहा- केन्द्र सरकार अपने प्रयास के प्रति यह सुनिश्चित कर रही है कि कम से कम समय में अधिकतम लोगों का कोरोना बीमारी के खिलाफ टीकाकरण किया जा सके। भारत में काफी तीव्र गति से टीकाकरण का कार्य किया जा रहा है और इस गति से और भी बढ़ाया जायेगा। संक्रमण की स्थिति और वैक्सीन लगाये जाने की गति के आधार पर केन्द्र सरकार अपने हिस्से से राज्यों और केन्द्र शासित प्रदेशों को टीका मुहैया करायेगी। ये सभी टीकाकरण राष्ट्रीय टीकाकरण कार्यक्रम का हिस्सा होंगे। जिसमें निर्धारित दिशा-निर्देशों का पालन किया जायेगा।
कोविड महामारी के खिलाफ संघर्ष में फार्मा सेक्टर की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका की सराहना की। उन्होंने ऐसी कठिन स्थिति में फार्मा उद्योग के काम करने के तरीके की भी प्रशंसा की। कोरोना संक्रमण की दूसरी लहर में संक्रमितों की बढ़ती संख्या का उल्लेख करते हुए श्री मोदी ने कई आवश्यक दवाईयों का उत्पादन बढ़ाने के प्रयासों और रेमडेसिविर जैसे इंजेक्शनों की कीमत कम करने के लिए फार्मा सेक्टर की सराहना की।

Everyone above the age of 18 years will now be administered COVID-19 vaccine from 1st of May. The Centre announced (on 19 April) a liberalised and accelerated phase three strategy of Covid-19 vaccination. A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi.
In this phase, the vaccination will continue as before in government of India vaccination centres free of cost to the eligible population including Health Care Workers, Front Line Workers and all people above 45 years of age. During this phase vaccine manufacturers will supply 50 per cent of their monthly released doses to Central government and they will be free to supply the remaining 50 percent doses to States as well as in the open market.
The manufacturers will transparently make an advance declaration of the price of the Vaccine that will be available to State Governments and in open market. Private Hospitals will have to procure their supplies of Covid-19 vaccine exclusively from the 50 per cent supply earmarked for other than Government of India channel.
During the meeting, the PM said, the Government has been working hard from over a year to ensure that maximum number of Indians are able to get the vaccine in the shortest possible time. He added that India is vaccinating people at world record pace and the country will continue this with even greater momentum. Central government from its share, will allocate vaccines to States and UTs based on the criteria of extent of infection and the speed of administration. All vaccination will be the part of the National Vaccination Programme and mandated to follow all protocol such as being captured on CoWIN platform.
IFFCO to set up an oxygen plant
Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) is going to set up an oxygen plant with 200 cubic meters per hour capacity in its Gujarat's Kalol unit. It will provide free oxygen to hospitals suffering from a shortage of oxygen amidst the unprecedented surge of COVID-19 infections.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने वीडियो कांफ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से फार्मास्यूटिकल उद्योग जगत के प्रतिनिधियों के साथ बातचीत में यह बात कहीं। उन्होंने फार्मा उद्योग से दवाईयों और आवश्यक चिकित्सा उपकरणों की निर्बाध आपूर्ति सुनिश्चित करने का अनुरोध किया और इसके लिए लॉजिस्टिक और परिवहन जैसी सुविधाओं के लिए सरकार के सहयोग का आश्वासन दिया।

Medical Oxygen supply in the country has been increased by nearly four times in a span of just around 2 months. Reports suggest that per day production capacity of Medical Oxygen in the country has enhanced from 1,273 Metric Tonnes in the last week of February this year to 4,739 Metric Tonnes per day in the recent past.

Indian Railways to run Oxygen Express trains
Railways is geared up to run Oxygen Express trains in response to its fight against Covid-19. Mumbai Division has built a ramp at Kalamboli goods yard to facilitate loading and unloading of tankers in and from flat wagons. The Ro-Ro service with seven empty tankers departed from Kalamboli goods yard for Visakhapatnam steel plant yesterday evening.
Railways transported essential commodities and kept the supply chain intact even during the lockdown last year and continue to serve the Nation in times of emergencies.
Upon the requests of various states for transportation of Oxygen, Railways explored the possibility of transportation of Liquid Oxygen and conducted trial runs.

About the plant-
It will generate medical grade oxygen & fill 700 big D type cylinders daily and also 300 medium B size cylinders on demand, which will be supplied to all hospitals free of cost. The hospitals need to bring their own cylinders for a refill. A security deposit will be taken if cylinders will be taken from IFFCO in order to avoid hoarding of oxygen. Several states in the country are facing a severe shortage of oxygen for medical use amid the second wave of COVID-19 cases.
