चक्रवात यास कल देर रात पूर्वी सिंहभूम जिले से होते हुए कल रात झारखंड में प्रवेश कर गया है और वर्तमान में झारखंड के सरायकेला-खरसावां जिले से गुजरते हुए 10 किमी प्रति घंटे की गति से आगे बढ़ रहा है। मौसम विभाग द्वारा पहले जारी पूर्वानुमान के विपरीत राज्य में प्रवेश करने के बाद चक्रवात की दिशा और अधिक पश्चिम की ओर बदल गई है। बोकारो, धनबाद, कोडरमा और गिरिडीह जिलों सहित कोयलांचल क्षेत्र अब चक्रवाती तूफान यास से कम प्रभावित होंगे, जबकि रांची, खूंटी, सिमडेगा, गुमला और झारखंड के अन्य आसपास के जिलों में लगातार होने वाली भारी बारिश, आंधी के साथ चक्रवाती तूफान यास का प्रभाव देखा जा रहा है। 

राज्य के अधिकतर प्रभावित हिस्सों में 50 से 60 किमी प्रति घंटे की रफ्तार से हवाएं चल रही हैं। मौसम विभाग ने अगले दो दिनों तक तेज आंधी के साथ भारी बारिश की संभावना जताई है। मुख्यमंत्री हेमंत सोरेन ने कहा है कि वह राज्य में चक्रवात के प्रभावों की बारीकी से निगरानी कर रहे हैं और स्थानीय प्रशासन और एनडीआरएफ टीमों को लोगों की सुरक्षा के निर्देश दे रहे हैं।  

ओडिसा में शीघ्र सामान्य स्थिति बहाल करने के आदेश
ओडिसा सरकार ने चक्रवात यास से प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में शीघ्र सामान्य स्थिति बहाल करने के आदेश दिए हैं। कल (26 मई) राजधानी भुबनेश्वर में यास से प्रभावित ओडिसा के उत्तरी जिलों में हुए हानि का आकलन करने के बाद मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक ने आदेश दिया कि चक्रवात प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में 24 घंटे के भीतर बिजली आपूर्ति और सड़क परिवहन सेवा बहाल करने का कम से कम 80% काम पूरा किया जाए। उन्होंने भद्रक और बालेश्वर जैसे तटवर्ती जिलों में बाढ में डूबे 128 गांवों के लोगों को सात दिन की राहत सामग्री देने की घोषणा की।

ओडिसा में वर्षा और विनाशकारी तूफान लाने के बाद चक्रवात यास अब झारखंड की ओर बढ़ने लगा है। ओडिसा में राहत और बचाव कार्य युद्धस्तर पर चल रहे हैं और बिजली आपूर्ति बहाल करने तथा सड़कों को साफ करने का काम तेजी से चल रहा है। हालांकि इस समुद्री तूफान से बिजली आपूर्ति और दूर संचार नेटवर्क को बहुत नुकसान नहीं हुआ है, लेकिन निचले इलाकों में और विशेष रूप से भद्रक, बालेश्वर और मयूरभंज जिलों में पानी भर जाने से और पेड़ों के गिर जाने से बड़े पैमाने पर क्षति हुई है। छह लाख लोगों को प्रभावित इलाकों से निकालकर सुरक्षित स्थानों पर भेजा गया था। इस प्रकार कई लोगों की जान बचाई गई है। इस बीच भुबनेश्वर में बीजू पटनायक अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे पर शाम से उड़ान सेवा फिर शुरू हो गई है। चक्रवात से निपटने की तैयारियों के कारण हवाई अड्डों को कुछ घंटों के लिए बंद कर दिया गया था। भुवनेश्वर से आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए गिरीश चंद्र दास।

तूफान यास उत्‍तर-पश्चिम की ओर बढकर कमजोर पड गया है। मौसम विभाग ने बताया कि यास से अंडमान और निकोबार द्वीप समूह, ओडिसा तथा पश्चिम बंगाल सबसे अधिक प्रभावित हुए हैं। मौसम विभाग के महानिदेशक मृत्‍युंजय महापात्रा ने बताया कि ओडिसा में सर्वाधिक वर्षा दर्ज की गई। उन्‍होंने बताया, चक्रवाती तूफान ताऊ-ते का प्रवाह 1,800 किलोमीटर रहा जबकि यास का प्रवाह 1,000 किलोमीटर तक है।

अण्‍डमान निकोबार आइलैंड ज्‍यादा प्रभावित क्षेत्र रहा वो रहा। इसके बाद ओडिसा और वेस्‍ट बंगाल की ओर इसका प्रभाव रहा और सुबह तक झारखण्‍ड में इसका प्रभाव होने की आशा है। ये डायरेक्‍ट हिट ओडिसा कोस्‍ट को करते हुए सबसे ज्‍यादा बारिश ओडिसा में रिकॉर्ड किया गया। सामुद्रिक लहर दो से चार मीटर ऊंचाई का नॉर्थ ओडिसा और एडजॉयनिंग वैस्‍ट बंगाल का जो डिस्‍ट्रिक्‍ट है जैसे बालासौर, भद्रक, मेदिनीपुर और 24 परगना में रिकॉर्ड किया गया।

यास तूफान से पश्चिम बंगाल के पूर्वी मेदनीपुर और दक्षिण चौबीस परगना के तटवर्ती क्षेत्रों में भारी नुकसान हुआ है। तूफान के इस क्षेत्र से कल गुजरने के बाद 70 से 80 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे की गति से तेज हवाओं के साथ भीषण वर्षा हुई। समुद्र में ऊंची लहरें उठीं और करीब 70 किलोमीटर क्षेत्र में नदी तटबंधों को नुकसान पहुंचा तथा 51 तटबंध टूट गए। करीब बीस हजार कच्चे मकान ढह गए हैं। एनडीआरएफ, एसडीआरएफ और सेना की आपदा प्रबंधन टीमें युद्धस्तर पर बचाव कार्यों में लगी हैं। 15 लाख से अधिक लोगों को सुरक्षित स्थानों पर पहुंचाया गया है।

Jharkhand witnessesthe impact of Cyclonic storm "Yaas"

Cyclone Yaas entered Jharkhand late last night through East Singhbhum district and is currently moving towards Saraikela Kharsawan district. Most parts in Jharkhand have been witnessing the impact of Cyclonic storm Yaas leading to intermittent heavy rainfall and gusty winds blowing at a speed of 50 to 60 km per hour. Many districts of the state Ranchi, Khunti, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela Kharsawan, Bokaro, Gumla and Simdega have been put on Red and Orange by the Weather Department as extremely heavy to heavy rainfall has been predicted for the whole day. More than 11,000 people have been shifted and rescued to safer places and makeshift shelter homes in East and West Singhbhum districts.

"Cyclone Yaas has entered Jharkhand late night yesterday through East Singhbhum district and is currently passing through Saraikela Kharsawan district in Jharkhand and moving ahead with a speed of 10 kilometres per hour. Announcements by the District Administration is being continuously made for people to stay indoors and do not move out of their homes. The direction of the cyclone has changed more westwards after it has made an entry in the State against the earlier prediction by the Weather Department. Koylanchal area including Bokaro, Dhanbad, Koderma and Giridih districts will now be less affected by the Cyclone storm Yaas, while Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, Gumla and other nearby districts of Jharkhand are witnessing the impact of Cyclonic storm Yaas with intermittent heavy rainfall and gusty winds blowing at a speed of 50-60 km per hour.

Weather Department has predicted extremely heavy to heavy rainfall with thunderstorm for the next two days. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that he has been closely monitoring the effects of the cyclone in the state and giving instructions to local administration and NDRF teams to safeguard people. Many places are facing power cut since yesterday while many trees have been uprooted at several places of the state due to the Cyclone. More than 11,000 people have been shifted and rescued to safer places and makeshift shelter homes in Saraikela Kharsawan.

Bihar CM asked all DMs to remain on high alert-
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has asked all District Magistrates (DMs) to remain on high after Cyclone Yaas hit the Odisha and West Bengal coast. The State Government has deployed 22 disaster management teams in districts adjoining Jharkhand and West Bengal. The Met Department predicts the Cyclone will hit Patna this evening. An for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places was issued for the state. The East Central Railways has cancelled 15 trains in view of the cyclone.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Government has ordered early restoration of normalcy in the area hit by the Cyclonic storm Yaas yesterday. After reviewing the extent of damage in the North Odisha districts last evening in capital Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered restoration of at least 80 per cent electricity supply and road communication in the cyclone hit areas within 24 hours. He has also declared seven days relief to the people of 128 villages marooned by flash floods in the coastal districts like Bhadrak and Balasore.

"Even as Yaas heads towards Jharkhand as a depression after lashing north Odisha with downpour and devastating winds with a speed up to 140 kilometres per hour, rescue relief and restoration teams have swung into action for early resumption of power and road clearance. Though the oceanic disaster did not cause much of a harm to electricity supply lines and telecom network, its damaging potential is evident in extensive inundation of low lying areas and massive destruction of trees especially in Bhadrak, Baleshwar and Mayurbhanj districts. While a whopping six lakh fifty thousand people had been evacuated to safe shelters, thereby saving precious lives, two deaths however have been reported one each from Baleshwar and Keonjhar district.

In West Bengal, the administration is making assessments of the damage caused by the impact of the very severe cyclone Yaas which made landfall yesterday morning. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told reporters in Kolkata that at least 1 crore people have been affected and three lakh houses were damaged due to rough weather conditions arising out of the cyclone.
